Enrolling my son in Newman Academy was the absolute worst academic mistake I have EVER made with either of my sons. This travesty of a “school” is a detriment to all students. They boast of teaching a year ahead – this is completely false. As a parent that sat in my child’s classes I saw some of the WORST teaching techniques ever. How does one teach math and never leave their desk, does not actively engage the children, nor make it life applicable. The leadership at this school decided on a motto of “wisdom, stature, and favor”. A much better motto would be “cunning, dishonesty, and racism”. Please note that not only did I have a student in this mess of a “school”, I also served as an educator. Please note that I was not fired, and my students can attest that I had always made the statement that I was not returning. The administration at Newman Elementary in Cedar Hill is the WORST administration that I have ever seen. If you stick around long enough, the parents and staff will begin to literally dog the principal. Newman Elementary is led by a disingenuous racist that serves with the diplomacy of a billy goat. However, that type of leadership starts at the top. I initially applied to be a sub, the superintendent interviewed me for a full-time teaching position which I declined. Please note that she interviewed the Spanish teacher for ten minutes then interviewed me for 3 hours to ensure that I would not teach about Colin Kaepernick and how these children should be happy for the opportunities in America… Yet, there is an educator always wearing Make America Great Again attire in the school and actively teaching the racism that is the current presidential administration in the classroom. The interviewer was an immigrant herself that appeared to have no ability to empathize for other ethnicities. The school consistently fails children of color as the pedagogy is one that has one Eurocentric definition of success that purposely dismisses a child of color’s experiences, heritage, and challenges. I had to write a ten-page document to show how my child was being taught with a cycle of deficit and failed by this school. At this point, I have to home school my child next year to rebuild his learning foundation, catch him up, and redevelop his confidence in his own ability. The leadership fires the principals of color and maintains the educators that need to retire, are no longer effective, and subscribe to racist theories. In summation:
1.) If you bring your child to this school, your student will get a substandard education.
2.) If your student is of color, they will be mistreated, dismissed, and forced to either adjust to limited teaching methodology or fail.
3.) The administration will lie to you and engage a pedagogy that is based on implicit racism.
I cannot share all the issues and exchanges with this buffoonery of an organization, so please feel free to reach out to me for a conversation if needed. However, the previous verbiage should be all you need to know to run.

This school focuses more on uniform policy than education. You only have one place in Arlington to get uniforms which are not affordable. They will send your child home or give them detention if they have on affordable pants although they look the same as the pants you get in Arlington. I feel as a parent, chastised for not being able to afford the pants from the Arlington retailer. My sons feel embarrassed when they have to be shunned in front of the class for being called out for uniforms that look the same, so they miss out on the lesson bec8of that. It's just sad to see little kids in tears because they have to sit in the office or get detention for uniforms. Close Quote

This is the third year our children have been a part of Newman International Academy at Cedar Hill, and our family loves it! Our son is in the fifth grade, and our daughter is in the fourth grade. The campus itself is beautiful and such a breath of fresh air. The teachers are kind, caring and committed to helping each student reach their potential. The class sizes are small with more one on one attention given to each student. Newman Warriors are held to a high standard of respect, compassion and work ethic. We highly recommend our school!
