As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is wonderful! I tell everyone I know to come sign their kids up here. The school day is long and the work is advanced, but they meet each child where they're at and work with them individually and in small groups to help them succeed. My kids can't wait for school to start again, even though they've had lots of fun over the summer break. They adore their teachers and can't wait to get back to their friends and the friendly competition of seeing who can achieve the most in reading or science or math. I recently watched my 7-year-old draw a map of all the continents and oceans straight from memory, thanks to her amazing social studies teacher. She came home one day last year talking about how tsunamis are formed, and the following week she was telling me about photosynthesis. My son is about to start 1st grade and reads at a 3rd grade level now after only 1 year at this school. A couple of months ago, he immediately identified a picture on a commercial as the Taj Mahal, and (correctly) stated that it was built by a king for his wife after she died. He's also learned to express his emotions verbally rather than acting out physically, and he's very articulate about it (ex: "I get so upset when people laugh at me because it makes me feel embarrassed and I feel like I want to scream."). KIPP focuses a lot on expressing yourself in a respectful way, and I'm so proud that he's learning to do that rather than blowing up when he's mad. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. They're learning so much at this school, and I love the fact that my daughter doesn't want to be a ballerina when she grows up - she wants to be a scientist! And my son wants to be a doctor, not a basketball player! The teachers' lives revolve around their students and their lessons, and I have the utmost respect and admiration for each of them. They work incredibly hard and the days are so long - school starts at 7:25 and lets out at 5 p.m., but I've talked to my kids' teachers sometimes at 8 o'clock at night and found that they're still at the school. And that's another thing: you get the cell phone numbers of your children's teachers here, so you're able to call or text anytime they need help with homework or a project, or you have any questions or concerns. And the principal is a rare find, btw. Kind, polite, professional, friendly, positive, and absolutely dedicated and committed to excellence in her school, even if it means that she has to acknowledge a mistake on her part and revamp a policy or apologize, which I've seen her do on several occasions. I would (and do) recommend this school to any and everyone, and I wish Legacy went from Pre-K3 all the way up to college level, because I'd make sure my kids stayed here the whole way through. Love KIPP Legacy!! Close Quote

Open Quote My daughter has started in the PK3 program at KIPP Legacy this year. The teachers are great! And my daughter has learned so much in just a few short months. When first signing up for school there is a very long wait to complete all of the required registration and uniform pick ups. But it is really worth it! The teachers are available on their cell phone in the morning one hour before school and until eight or nine pm to discuss any problems or concerns you have. The teachers will call you if they feel like something is wrong or different with your child. You also get daily updates sent home with your child. My daughter's class has about 15 students in the afternoon class, but there are two teachers in the classroom. There is a lot of homework, so prepare yourself for the work and effort that you and your child will have to do everyday. This school really cares for their students. They not only expect, but require that parents play a role in their child's education. In my opinion, this makes all the difference. My daughter's teacher has also given me tips on how to help my child learn and practice the skills she's learning. My three year old can already read words and write her own name, and it's not even winter break. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
