As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I have two children at OCA and couldn't be happier. They receive a top notch education and still have time for extra curricular activities. And with dual enrollment, they are getting college credit for free! I don't pay tuition, for books, or for room and board. Oceanside makes so much sense! Close Quote

Open Quote Great opportunity for kids that want to get ahead and don't need the normal "High School Drama". Downfall, Your child has to be self motivated and the parent has to be on the website everyday to see what they have or don't have turned in. You as a parent has to stay on top of the teachers , for they tend to loose or misplace students work that is sent via email's to them. There is no "old school" of turning in papers manually. The website to see what your child has for homework does not work. I had a teacher give me 3 logins and non of them worked. I told the teacher and she was like " oh well, I don't know what to do." As to the prior parents comment, all of that is correct as well. They don't care if your child passes or fails. For this school to be an Elite Sport school, The athletic department does not keep up with there athletes to make sure they are on top of their grades or are on a Passing scale. For a parent that has invested a lot into their child, I am highly disappointed and feel I was sold something that was not. Alot of work needs to be done to make this a better school. The opportunity is there, just they need a better communication plan! Close Quote

Open Quote Great concept but reality is less. No consistent policies and your child must be totally self sufficient. IF YOUR CHILD IS ILL AND MISSES A COLLEGE LEVEL TEST YOU MAY BE GIVEN A ZERO. THIS IS OFTEN TIMES NONRECOVERABLE. IT WILL NOT MATTER IF YOU HAVE A DOCTORS NOTE.
The professors are given free reign over their makeup policies as no two are alike. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
