Summary

Agora Cyber Charter School is a public virtual charter school located in King of Prussia, PA, serving grades K-12 with a total enrollment of 4,432 students. While the school has a relatively high four-year graduation rate of 87.9% and a low dropout rate of 1.4%, it consistently underperforms the state average on standardized tests across all grade levels and subjects.

Agora Cyber Charter School's test scores are significantly below the state averages, with only 6.6% of its students proficient or better in PSSA Math and 20.4% in PSSA English Language Arts, compared to the state averages of 41.7% and 48.5%, respectively. The school also has a relatively high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 39.8% to 42.77% in recent years, suggesting it serves a higher proportion of economically disadvantaged students. Despite its high per-student spending, ranging from $14,952 to $20,878, and a lower student-teacher ratio compared to nearby schools, Agora Cyber Charter School is not translating these resources into improved academic outcomes for its students.

When compared to nearby charter schools, such as Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School and Renaissance Academy Charter School, Agora Cyber Charter School performs significantly worse on standardized tests, suggesting its virtual education model may not be as effective as the traditional in-person model used by these other schools. The school's high percentage of economically disadvantaged students may also present additional challenges in providing the necessary academic and social-emotional support for these students to succeed.

Open Quote I have been teaching high school since 2002. I joined Agora one year ago and I love this school. There is a high concern for students and a great communication here. I am very impressed with the administration. The salary isn't that hot, but the benefits are good and the staff and faculty are very friendly. I'm convinced that cyber is the education of the future and that many students flourish here. If you are a parent, make sure you are willing to help your student stay focused to succeed. If you can't get your student to clean his or her room, maybe they aren't self-disciplined enough yet to do cyber school. This is a great school! Close Quote
