Summary

Irving Elementary School is a public elementary school in Eugene, Oregon, serving 271 students from kindergarten to 5th grade. The school is part of the Bethel School District 52, which is ranked 117 out of 140 districts in the state and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Irving Elementary School has shown mixed performance in recent years. While the school has had some strong years, such as ranking 182nd in the state in 2021-2022, its performance has been inconsistent, dropping to 359th in 2023-2024. The school's proficiency rates in English Language Arts and Mathematics are often below the district and state averages, particularly in the lower grades. However, the school has shown some notable strengths in specific student subgroups, such as ranking 3rd out of 475 Oregon elementary schools for its Hispanic student population in 2017-2018.

Compared to nearby schools, Irving Elementary generally performs better than schools like Danebo Elementary and Malabon Elementary, but lags behind schools in the neighboring Eugene School District 4J, such as River Road/Elementary Camino del Rio Elementary and Yujin Gakuen Elementary, which have higher rankings and stronger academic performance. The school's high chronic absenteeism rates and high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch suggest that it may face challenges related to socioeconomic factors, which could be a key focus for improvement.

Open Quote I have had children attending Irving Elementary for 5 years and have had nothing but positive experiences. The staff are dedicated and go above and beyond to provide the best environment for our kids. Even with the challenges brought by budget cuts and increased class sizes, the entire staff has worked together to minimize the affect on the children. The test scores reflect the dedication of the teachers. The PTO is very active and supports the teachers in every way they can. It is a welcoming and friendly school community. Close Quote
