Open Quote It is the perfect place for a person to go to feel accepted. Unlike at a homeschool, you dont have as many accepting people, who feel the same way about the arts. Close Quote

Open Quote My daughter, quite the creative individual, attends Options Academy and thrives academically & artistically in their loosely structured environment. The flexibility allows her to create her own schedule while compelling her to be responsible for her own work and actions (one of the hallmarks of being an adult). On the artistic front, she enjoys the staunch support of her teachers, advisors, principal, and friends while on the academic side she continues to succeed. We couldn't be happier with the results and feel we've made the right choice with Options Academy of the Arts. Close Quote

Open Quote This school is very good for anyone with an artistic mind. It has a college style schedule & it is very supportive for all students. It is a fairly small school with 6 teachers & about 93 students.Responsibility is an important factor for each student because they control the classes they attend. All academics are online, the students are given laptops & access to wifi at the school to ensure their ability to work on their classes. There are advisers who keep in touch weekly with each student in person to assure progress is made & to hear any concerns the students have. There is also a monthly meeting with the entire student body & their teachers where students & teachers can again express their thoughts & concerns. For the performing arts section..there is Dance, Theater (tech, acting, fashion), & Music (instruments, vocals, bands, etc.). The styles of bands offered include Jazz & many styles of Rock. For the visual arts, there are a lot of options as well, these include painting, sketching, ceramics/pottery, & basically any medium that the school can obtain. There are many opportunities to display student art in the visual arts department because the school is actually in a real art gallery open to the public. The music majors also have opportunities to show off their talent with their bands during real gigs...some that even pay the students for their time. Graduation ceremonies are done through the home school of the student, there is also a small celebration for the departing seniors at the Options Academy. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
