As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote We moved to Waynesville specifically for their high school. My daughter had been in Christian private school (Pre-K - 8th) and wanted to go to a "normal" school for her high school years. After doing lots of research we narrowed it down to the two best schools in our area. She did a shadow day at one and we had a walk around (met teachers, classes offered, etc.) at the other. The Waynesville staff was very attentive and welcoming to my daughter and I, very different than the other schools attitude. My daughter is finishing up her junior year now at Waynesville and she is doing GREAT! She has continued her 4.0 GPA even while taking AP and honors classes. She absolutely loves her teachers. She speaks highly of them often even if the class has been a hard one. I feel the teachers there take a one on one interest with the kids that actually care about their grades. The office staff had ALWAYS been nice and respectful when I have called with questions....and I have had many being that I was use to private schools in the past. All schools do have some issues but the good at Waynesville HS GREATLY out weighs any negative issues. I have asked my daughter many times if she regrets coming to this school and the answer is always "NO WAY"! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
