Open Quote So glad our kids attend Kenwood! We love the staff and the principal is amazing. Great support from the community too. The school just became the recipient of the "Label Franc Education" award given by the French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs. People should do a tour and ask all of the questions because the parent teacher liaison has all of the answers! She’s wonderful as well. These ratings don’t make sense. My children are thriving, singing, and writing, and reading in both French and English. Close Quote

Open Quote My son had an extraordinary experience at Ecole Kenwood! He attended kindergarten through 5th grades and left there with great grades, exceptional test scores, lifelong friends and speaking French with confidence. The teachers are like family and truly care about all the kids. The new building is amazing and well-deserved. We will always look back fondly on our experiences there. Close Quote

Open Quote My son loves this school so much. The sense of community is wonderful. With a diverse population, my son is getting an enriched experience. The principle is amazing, the teachers are caring and invested in each student, the other parents are generous and giving. I'm not sure if it is just the people, the French language and culture that permeate the building, or just magic, but this school is one of the best in Columbus. My other child will attend this school as well when she's ready. Close Quote

Open Quote After many wonderful years my son is about to age out of the school. I wish the school went through the 12th grade so he wouldn’t have to leave. The Principal is phenomenal and the staff are engaged, talented, hardworking, and caring. If I had to do it all over again and was told I could send my son to any school in the state for free, including expensive elite private academies, I still would select Kenwood. It just doesn’t get any better. Close Quote

Open Quote This is an exceptional school, I really don't understand the low rating. This school has been in existence for 30 years. It is the ONLY French Immersion public school in the State of Ohio. The school just became the recipient of the "Label Franc Education" award given by the French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, recognizing the state-of-the-art dual language program. The teachers here are passionate - and many are native French speakers. The staff is friendly, helpful, and great at what they do. The principal, Mme. Corbin, is everything you could hope for in a principal -- she loves the school, she loves the children -- they are her priority in her position and it shows. The school building itself is BRAND new - bright, colorful, with big windows, wonderful communal spaces, and in a great neighborhood. I cannot sing high enough praises for Ecole Kenwood!!!!! Open Quote Both my kids are at Ecole Kenwood. We are so happy with the education our kids are getting here. Not only are they learning the 3 R's but they are fluent in French-- in fact, the school recently won a prestigious award from the French govt for excellence in French education.

The student body is racially and socioeconomically diverse and the kids care about each other the teachers are committed, going above and beyond in so many ways (tailoring assignments to kids' individual needs, staying late, volunteering during lunch to tutor kids, etc) and the principal Emma Corbin is a dynamo. Ecole Kenwood is a hidden gem within Columbus City Schools! Close Quote

Open Quote My son is a kindergartener at Ecole Kenwood and we love this school!! The staff, the facility, the care and respect toward the children are all amazing. There is excellent and active parent support. My son said to me yesterday that he is starting to think in French. We are so thankful this school exists and our family has the honor of being a part of this community. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
