Summary

Bayside High School is a public high school located in Bayside, New York, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 3,010 students. It is part of the New York City Geographic District #26, which is ranked 202 out of 874 districts in New York and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Despite being part of a well-ranked district, Bayside High School has consistently ranked in the bottom half of New York high schools, maintaining a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger over the past 10 years. The school performs better for certain student subgroups, such as English Language Learners and Homeless students, but struggles with White and Multi-racial student populations. Academically, the school lags behind the district and state averages, particularly in subjects like Chemistry, Common Core Geometry, and Living Environment. While the school's four-year graduation rate is on par with the district and state, its dropout rate is higher, and it has a significantly higher chronic absenteeism rate.

Compared to nearby schools, Bayside High School performs on par with or slightly better than Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, but lags behind higher-performing schools in the area, such as Francis Lewis High School and Great Neck North High School. The school's challenges may be influenced by factors such as its high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, indicating a relatively low socioeconomic status of the student population.

Open Quote This school offers many different classes for the students to take. They also have specific classes that the students have to take for the CTE program that they choose, so they can graduate with a CTE diploma. They have teachers that care for the students and help them when they need assistance. The guidance counselors make sure to talk to each of their students to see if they feel comfortable in the school and if they need any help. Close Quote
