As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote If you're a parent who cares about your child's well-being, please don't send your kid to this school. If you're an educator looking for a new place of employment, please don't come to this school. Don't be fooled by this school's past achievements because they are from a previews administration with excellent teachers who is now long gone. The current administration is the worst of the worst and if you're no of their liking they will make you quit anyways, so please, don't even waste your precious time and energy messing with this school. Open Quote Im going to junior year, it being my 3rd year in the school. For the pass two years this school has been falling apart. And it's only going to get worse. Lots of the good teachers are leaving and im pretty positive its not because their being fired but because they quit themselves. I feel like this has to do a lot with the student body. Alot of these kids are very rude disrespectful and treat teachers like straight up shit. Students who actually want to learn, including myself can't learn because of the horrible behavior of the students. And it does nothing to motivate me or help me and for this i blame a little for my struggles in classes. Right now I'm just trying to pass so I can hopefully get to college. If you want your child to be in a diverse educational environemt, I would not suggest this school. I wouldn't be suprised if the school was closing down in a coupple of years. Hopefully they're replacing the loss of teachers, if not with the same experience and teaching level, then more than what we had before for my junior year. Close Quote

Open Quote CIMS prepared me for college and helped me to acquire a full scholarship to one of the top liberal arts colleges in the nation. The faculty genuinely cares about their students and this fosters a safe environment for learning. CIMS is by far one of, if not the, best public high schools in the Bronx. Close Quote

Open Quote What is going on with this school? It started with very good scores from regents, but every year, the result is declining. I was so happy to find a school doing so good in my neighborhood and suddenly the school is changing for the worse. I even chose this school for my kids who are now in 7 and 8 grade. Well, I have changed my mind now. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
