As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I have been an educator for the past fourteen years in New York City public schools and have been delighted to spend the last four of those at Murray Hill Academy. Murray Hill Academy focuses on developing students academics, but also the mindsets with which they approach learning. With a strong foundation in academics inside the classroom, the school also supports students with an advisory program and plethora of extra curricular activities and experiences. During the last year our students saw multiple Broadway shows, took an overnight trip to tour monuments in Washington, DC as well as the African American Museum for History and Culture, and even took a group of 15 students to Italy and Greece over the April break. It is a wonderful place to teach, learn, and explore. Close Quote

Open Quote Murray Hill Academy is a great school with friendly staff and students. You can go to anyone and be comforted with no worries. The workload is not at all difficult and there is plenty of resources for students to use including the library and the guidance councilor. We tend to have trips that allow us to go to different places around the world such as our Europe trip which brought us to Greece and Italy. We also have the opportunity to go to Washington D.C. and explore the different interesting facts about that area. Close Quote

Open Quote Murray Hill Academy is a poorly run school with a scary level of absenteeism among students and way too many fights. I resigned from the school due to its horrible conditions. Students missed many days of school out of fear for their safety. A visitor came to the school and was unable to meet with students because a multi-student fight broke out and he had to remain in the principal's office for his own safety. The bathrooms have to be locked so that students don't abuse illegal substances in them. One girl was attacked by another girl in the bathroom. The attendance teacher routinely berates and humiliates parents, students, and other staff members. It' a terrible environment to send your children. Don't let the Manhattan address fool you. Beware of Murray Hill Academy. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
