As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The drop in rankings is shocking as this is an amazing school with great teachers. I think the class sizes have just grown too big. The parent involvement here is amazing. They did begin GT this year for 2nd graders, but it is only 2.5 hours a week on Fridays. They do have SWAS on location. If there were less use of substitute teachers and more space to accomodate the growth in the student body, this would be a better school. The higher scoring students here also tend to funnel off into Sage Ridge as it is the private school one street behind here. This may impact the test scores as well. Kids here generally have alternative education as well such as travel to foreign countries, which impacts their absentee rates from the in class room education. Needless to say, the CRT test scores do need to improve given the population of great kids that are here. More teaching? Smaller class sizes? Close Quote

Open Quote it is no surprise that that school moved to number one in the state. Test scores reflect the amount of parent involvement in their children's education. This is a place that has a very active parents group, so plan to be involved. The children are exceptionally behaved and lucky. There is very little variance as shown the racial and economic make up for the school. The languages offered in after school programs are currently limited to spanish and French. More could be done to enrich this aspect of the school. Overall, this is the most private feeling public school in Reno. The school is the location for the School Within A School gifted program and has an open enrollment for the Stanford EPGY program. Close Quote

Open Quote Puts test scores before letting kids be kids. Teachers put a lot of teaching burden on parents, failing to fully teach how to - - without instructions, frequently the parents have to figure it out. GET A CLUE, homework is supposedly for kids, not parents. In the real world, it isn't test scores, it's about real usable knowledge. Also, the administration needs to STOP their fund raising and START learning that kids need time and space to just be kids! Not fund raisers and homework droids. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
