Open Quote The Principal is a very strict woman and does not know how to talk to children and some of the children are scared of her. If you disagree with her on something she will hang up on you. The school is ran like a military school. Children have to go to the bathroom when the class goes and there are bathroom monitors that stand there and make sure that the kids do not speak to each other. Your child's class will eat lunch together, they have to sit with their class. The kids are not allowed to sit with friends. After lunch there is recess but the kids have to line up and walk in a straight line till they get to the play ground and then they can branch out and play. When the class leaves the classroom for what ever reason the kids are made to line up and and walk in a straight line and they must stop at the stop signs and check the line to make sure no one is talking or is standing out of line. There should be no reason why a child can not go to the bathroom without having the whole class outside. Children are holding their urine in and getting bladder infections. The school has a clip discipline board in each classroom, each teacher has a board and each child is given a clip and for whatever reason the clip can be moved from bad to good or good to bad. Children have had their clips moved to bad if they forgot to bring in a paper that was supposed to be signed by a parent. A few parents said they forgot to sign something and that they where informed that their child had disobeyed the rules and the clip was moved down. So we have children that are very unhappy and very stressed at RanchVale. Close Quote

Open Quote This school is great. The teacher to student ratio is a little lower than other schools in it's district and the teachers are very caring and focused on each child. With the ratio being lower they have more time to dedicate to each child if and when it is needed. One of the second grade teachers has extra education on reading and helped my child catch up where the Las Vegas school system was failing him. Other parents have also commented on her being able to help their child progress in reading also. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
