As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Update from my previous post: My son finished his 1st year at MCST with a major in Computers. We guessed right in what we thought the school would be like both in the positives and the negatives but overall we are extremely pleased with our choice. The + are that my son totally loves going to school, he loves his major, loves learning, the teachers are excellent, my son has a lot of pride in his school, the drama club is fantastic and there isn't a lot of clicks at the school. The negatives (which we had guessed correctly beforehand) was that the leadership (communication, principal, etc.) is poor and it is hard for the MCST kids to get together outside of school. The school does a poor job of having dances or social gathering. Yes, my son has developed friendships at MCST but not as many as if he had stayed at his home school of Kinnelon ( which is also a very good school). On a positive note about social is that the MCST students appear to be very good kids who don't get into trouble. The best part about MCST is that it like going to college in that MOST kids really care about their education because they are focusing on something they enjoy and again. Close Quote

Open Quote Lots of amazing, attentive teachers, flexible and encouraging counselors/administration, campus energy, small class sizes, project-based learning style (as opposed to solely testing), technology-integrated assignments, and amazing CTE program... but lacks AP classes, there is inequality in grade weighting between academies, and there are very few extra-curricular programs (ex. no FBLA, NFHS, Academic Bowl, Math team, Art Club, Interact Club, Science Bowl, etc). About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
