My son was in Village for 5 years. The Pre-k program was great. My son excelled in this program and he really enjoyed going. Kindergarten is currently part time. There is absolutely no way the teachers could cram a full day curriculum into 2 1/2 hours. Unless you receive special education kindergarten afterwards, or you shell out $$ for the extended kindergarten program, its a complete waste of time. But the teachers were great and have a good attitude about the situation and try to make the best of it. 1st grade was amazing, my son had two great teachers who made the classroom very interactive and my son had a postive learning experience there. Then came 2nd grade and it was the worst year ever. The teachers were ok, not nearly as great as the last year, but not terrible. The child study team gave me alot of problems about my sons attention problems and reccommended I talk to my pediatrician because PARCC testing prep was apparently more important than accomodating my sons needs. The school doesnt even have smart boards, or other technology or access to APPs that most schools have to prepare for PARCC since part of the new curriculum is technology, this school still uses ditto sheets and wonder why these kids are so bored. Another big issue is the department of transportation's way of handling bus incidents. They completely ignore parent complaints of inattentive and wreckless driving behavior of the bus drivers and allow the bus driver and company to continue on the same route. I think this school receives high ratings because it is a very affluent area were many children have private tutoring, enrichment programs and other highly educational and expensive programs kids in other schools cannot afford, which really helps when it comes to testing, and this school only has standardized testing in 2-3 grades. It is not a warm and inviting community, mostly because the school is the only k-3 in such a large town, everyone is very spread out. But the few families I have met are really nice and hope to keep in touch with them as I have decided to leave the district. Close Quote
