Open Quote Indian Hill School in Holmdel, NJ: For many years, countless children and parents have been reporting issues of extreme daily bullying (on buses, in classrooms, cafeterias, recess, gym). Innocent children are being verbally and physically abused by other kids causing deep depression to the abused, and I'm concerned may eventually up in tragedy b/c the staff refuse to do the proper oversight and intervention. Holmdel schools claim to have a "zero tolerance" policy but that is farthest from the truth. These cases have been reported to the faculty but zero action is taken. Endless HIBs have been filed and this is still a persistent problem. They have video surveillance throughout the school and refuse to use it to reference specific issues that have been reported b/c they don't want to bring attention to the problem. These cases are typically handled by Mr Ferrarese who is the Assistant Principal, and he has zero compassion for the victims, befriends the bullies, and refuses to address the chronic issue. He is not fit to be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of those children. The school does not reinforce the topic enough through education and kids aren't provided enough emotional support. It's a shame b/c parents pay high taxes for a "good" school system, and I bet some parents may not realize their kids are being bullied b/c I've heard kids are afraid of bringing more attention to the problem and being picked on even further. Don't just take my word for it. Want proof it's happening? Have every child (and parent) do an anonymous survey (every quarter!) asking if they (or their children) have ever been bullied or seen other kids being bullied, and definitely ask if they see faculty ignore the problem. To all children and parents: do not give up... continuously escalate the issues to the superintendent, board of education, State of NJ, Department of Education without fear of retaliation... fight for your children's mental health and safety! About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
