Open Quote Hoover is the little hidden gem in Bergenfield, NJ. The town is home to 25K people, and this is one of five elementary schools that feed into the one middle and one high school. This is the smallest of the five elementary schools with about 200 kids. We are very pleased with it. Our son is getting what he needs: an excellent education. The teachers are great! They are very thoughtful and caring and really know how to get through to the kids, which is really what matters! We are seeing positive results in our child. The principal (William Fleming) is impressive. Not only was he patient with us as parents, but he is that way with the kids and also with his staff. You can tell he is a good leader by how happy the staff seems. He instills pride in the school and preaches kindness and acceptance. They have a no tolerance to bullying philosophy, like most schools, but the kids seem to abide by it (so far!). This is a very diverse school, with kids from varying backgrounds. The gym is new and huge! And it doubles as the cafeteria. They are very proud of this new addition. There's a huge field in the back of the school too. We are very happy with this school. If you end up living in this zone, you will be satisfied too. My suggestion is to go visit the school and take a tour. Also.. if you use the SAAC after school program, your child will enjoy it.. and so will you. They help the kids with all their homework and then let them play. There's a nice park across the street from the school where the kids play or they free play in the big gym in the winter. Close Quote

Open Quote I am very surprised that this school does not have the high rating it should have. My daughter was there since KG to 4th grade and we had to move to another state in 5th grade. We are apparently in 10/10 school but it is no way close to what Hoover gave her and what she accomplished. Everyday I want to return to NJ just because of this school since NJ as a state is expensive. I am proud my daughter was a part of this school. Awesome teachers and a great Principal.
