As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote As a Paideia-accredited school, PSE places emphasis on both academia as well as building good citizens of the world. It's truly one of the best school across the state with teachers, administrators, parents, and kids who care about doing the right thing. Close Quote

Open Quote This school has great scores but it is not progressive at all. It feels like they are stuck in 1970 education! At lot of bullies and it has the feeling of a jailhouse! Really strict, luck of social emotional support, no diversity celebration or awareness! Close Quote

Open Quote The rigorous education my children are receiving at PSE is beyond compare. The integration of technology coupled with the emphasis on the Paideia principles and Socratic seminar truly make PSE the place to be! While the test scores at PSE are excellent, testing is not the main focus. PSE realizes that standardized tests are but one measure of learning. Teachers push students to think and work far beyond the confines of what little is measured on annual tests. We love PSE! Close Quote

Open Quote I am so fortunate to have sent my daughter to PSE. She left elementary school with an amazing foundation. I feel certain that her experience at PSE will impact her success through her college years. Thank you, PSE! Close Quote

Open Quote I agree with the other parent about the over focus on test scores and doing whatever it takes to be highly ranked. The tactic appears to be to gear the teaching to advanced students. I have been told "your child meets CMS standards but not our standards" by a teacher. I have been told "Perhaps this is not the right setting for your child".

We also were urged to undergo additional testing when another one of our children scored just below the gifted cutoff. We went along with it. When that didn't qualify our child for the talent development program, we got a call at home, after hours, urging us to allow our child to be pulled out of the classroom regularly in order to work on a portfolio of advanced academics that might lead to gifted qualification. I drew the line at that. Our child was actually struggling in one area, and certainly could not afford to miss classroom instruction in order to go and "try" to be gifted. What message does this send to the child?" That they are not good enough. This is a typical example of the principal putting school ratings before the needs of the children. I could go on and on. This principal appears to have struck a deal with her teachers - they are to focus on pushing the kids to excel, and she will use a campaign of child and parent harassment to drive away any child who is not above average. Open Quote NO DIVERSITY!!! School caters to wealthier families with a stay at home parent that is willing to volunteer at any moment. Staff are more interested in their scores, true or not, than actually teaching the children. Any child academically challenged is left behind or driven out! They seem more interested in their so called "Blue Ribbon Status" regardless if it was earned or not, than actually teaching. It seems more of (a pat on the back) environment, and the staff follow the leader like a pack of sheep. What else would you expect? Does this warrant a 100k salary, when so many good educators are losing their jobs??? Lets hang our hats on the real scores of the learning and stop playing follow the leader. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
