Open Quote Not a good school. Education dropped and school doesnt care to take responsibility for bullying issues. Its predominate focus is test score achievement but the overall concern should be education. Yes test scores have improved but when u have an environment where kids feel unsafe unheard and unsure it creates a harder time for learning and retaining info learned. This school doesnt want concerned parents they want passive parents. They dnt follow state or federal laws implemented when it comes to bullying and the mental effects it has on education. Most of these parents arent happy with this school the staff or direction its going. When u have an egotistical regional superintendent that lacks concern for safety of kids and the values of education you have a problem. Theres no good schools but this by far has been 1of the worse schools ive endured in 23 yrs of parenting. The desire to learn and see school as important and safe starts in elementary but since my child has been here she sees this school as horrible unsafe and when school takes no responsibility for actions such as bullying and how it affects kids desire to learn theyll keep just promoting kids and by the time these kids are in high school well have kids that grow up with self esteem issues or worse. The counselors are great but they cant teach every kid. Most of the parents here are unhappy and fearful as the school utilizes police and yfs as means to conyrol concerned parents they deem 2 assertive or active roles in their childs life yet they always ask parents to be involved. The environment of learning shouldnt just come from home. My child learns more from home then she does at school as every morning she fears whos going to do what. Numerous attempts to have teachers pay attention to what goes on class and on school grounds go unheard or is overlooked by downplaying roles of incidents but because they have test scores they do nothing. It speaks volumes that this school is ranked 954 outta NCs1434 public schools and 64 outta cms own 105 elementary schools. Cms ranks 108 outta 199 districts in NC. To me these numbers speak volumes. The concerns are misplaced. Education needs dont start in high school where they have an advocate that works with administration to have those kids voices heard it starts in elementary where those voices are soft and unspoken. Parents should never worry what their childs day will be. We should know that school is just as safe as home and the dangers of today isnt going to affect effect and infect their childs progress educationally. I wouldnt recommend any child attendand for the environment this school is located one would think the school was accordingly. Wrong just ask parents whos kids attend. Please dont be miguided by Google stars as if parents ranks that werent in support of the school were published verses kicked out youd understand the overall view of this school. But hey im just a parent of 7 and my experience of Other NC schools this 1 is 1 of the worse especially when u have a family of school teachers. Close Quote

Open Quote This school is now a partial LI/TD magnet which is great. It does get the students ready for those who want to go on to a IB middle school and be challenged. The teachers here are great and are dedicated to the students but the principal is horrible. She does nothing for moral and has made no improvements to the school. If you are not there for the magnet program you will just get lost in the mix. The prinipal needs to go. Close Quote
