As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote We decided to enter the lottery for the MPTS Leadership magnet school even though our son is already zoned for a great school in Charlotte. We were blown away by staff and the leadership of the students when we came to the open house at MPTS. We knew that this school was special. When we found out that he got in, my wife and I were faced with a difficult decision between 2 great elementary schools. At the end of the day, the leadership program and diversity of the students at MPTS helped us make the right decision. The involvement of the PTA, teachers, and staff makes the over all experience feel like a warm welcoming family. I know that my son is getting the support and quality education that he needs to succeed. Close Quote

Open Quote MPTS is a magnet school in the CMS system. For the last three years, we’ve been at MPTS. I can’t say enough about the teachers and staff. Our Principal, Mrs Fowler, is one of the most fair individuals that I’ve ever encountered who always has every students’ best interest at heart. Our teachers and staff love being at school and you feel the positive energy just walking down the halls of the school. We also love the smaller school size compared to other elementary schools in CMS. Our kids know most students and teachers. Lastly, the Leader in Me program is fantastic and we love watching our kids bwork at ‘sharpening their saws’ every day. Close Quote

Open Quote This is our fourth year at MPTS and we couldn’t ask for a better learning environment for our son. We have an AMAZING principal, exceptional teachers and an awesome staff - an entire team that contributes to the huge success and leadership instilled in all of its students. We never doubt that our son is in the best hands possible to learn and grow as a leader each and every day he spends at MPTS. It is a school family that we are proud to be part of and blessed to have been selected in the lottery four years ago! Close Quote

Open Quote MPTS is such an amazing school - it's truly everything you'd want in an elementary school for your child. Mrs. Fowler is a hands on principal that is always looking out for what's best for not only our children but her staff as well. The teachers are wonderful and go above and beyond, making learning fun and instilling the Leader in Me curriculum into daily lessons. There is a lot of parent involvement with a very active PTA that helps tremendously. It's a place that brings a smile to my face and seeing how happy my children are there make it even more special to us. We are so happy to be part of the MPTS family! Close Quote

Open Quote MPTS is just the best! From the administration to the teachers to the community of families we couldn't be happier. Our children are challenged, nurtured and inspired on a daily basis at this school. The teachers and the administration have really taken the time to get to know my children and meet them at their current level (whether it be above, below, or on grade level). Close Quote

Open Quote MPTS is the no longer secret gem in CMS, it's one of THE gems. We are so happy with everything at this school - classroom environment, academics, teachers, admin, parent involvement, discipline - it's the total package and everything you'd want in a school for your child. Mrs. Fowler, our principal has recruited some of the best teacher talent in the Charlotte-area and we're proud to be a part of the MPTS community! Close Quote

Open Quote Myers Park Traditional School is a phenomenal school with the phenomenal staff! Mrs. Fowler and Ms. Tuck do their best to ensure that each student feels special, smart, welcome and loved! Mrs. Fowler knows EVERY child’s name and builds a personal relationship with each of them. I couldn’t ask for a better elementary school for my children!! L Close Quote

Open Quote I removed my child (1st Grade) from MPTS last year. Apparently, they have some sort of Pre planned curriculum.
They appear to be in "Receive Mode" -- They’re waiting to be told what they have to do, and that’s not going to bring success to an individual child. You have to have teachers who are empowered to facilitate great teaching. Close Quote

Open Quote My child attended MPTS grades K-5. In those Six (6) years I witnessed the Arrival and Departure of FIVE (5) different Principals ! As Trump would say, "Bad, Bad School." Its as if, the Teachers are not allowed to be independent thinkers ( Pre-approved curriculum and they follow it with No Deviations). The problem with that is, the Curriculum is seriously lacking. Fortunately, my child was in TD classes during his time at MPTS but I still had to Supplement his education at home (worksheets, Apps., elaborate on topics, etc).
Students with Behavioral problems exist in an abundance !!
And last but not least, Money talk$ at this school - the more you Spend and give, the more attention/recognition your child will receive (and believe me, they're constantly petitioning for Party supplies, School supplies, Money for field trips, Money for parties, etc.)
To sum, MPTS a has a 'FEW' Great teachers but Most are Mediocre or worse. The first 3 years were decent and We stayed thru 5th grade because his neighborhood school was unacceptable. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
