As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote East Chapel Hill is a school I would NEVER recommend to anyone. As a student who attended another high school, I can easily compare. When leaving my old high school I was not exactly happy, but now attending this school I see how fantastic my old high school was. To begin the hygiene of this school is beyond disgusting. Many toilets that you flush spray water back up on you, stalls will go days without toilet paper being replaced, and so far it has been over a week since we have had paper towels and soap in our upper c bathroom. The administration even has to lock certain bathrooms in order for them to know they will be clean when they bring in visitors to view the school, which they then unlock and show the visitors how NICE our bathrooms our. They care more about their appearance then the actual students. There is no one punishment policy across the board, it is mainly how nice your vice principle is and your personal relationship with your vice principle. For example, true story, two students got caught with the same issue. Student A has been caught skipping a lot over the years while Student B has never been caught skipping. Student A got 1 day of lunch detention, while Student B got 10 days of not being allowed to leave study hall, even for the bathroom, and also lost free period for over a month. This unfair punishment is due to Student B having a bad relationship with their vice principle. Then there is the legal issue of punishing students who get in trouble with alcohol or drugs OFF CAMPUS. Students caught by the police partying over winter break, weekends, spring break, and basically anytime are punished not only with the law, home, and now even school. First off, this is illegal, second off isn't school suppose to be a safe zone for kids. Those who are punished get parking pass taken away, off campus privileged revoked, extra curricular activities take away, and more. I mean i understand if you were caught ON CAMPUS but OFF CAMPUS? When will this stop, soon it is going to be speeding tickets and coming home late. Out of school punishment is for the parent to decide, not the school. Schools are for students to learn, not to be punished and act as the students parent. Until there is a law suit or enough parents to complain about this policy it will stay in place, illegal or not. Another policy is their new Saturday school, no exception, for those who have an unexcused absence. First off in 2011 we changed our homecoming date because of it being on a Jewish holiday. What about Saturday being the day of rest for Jewish people? Also what happens to those students who have to work on Saturdays to support their family income or pay for college. East does not care what is contradicting or illegal until a parent complains. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
