About the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers: The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career (PARCC) is one of two state consortia that developed a common set of K-12 assessments aligned with higher standards for college and career. Mississippi is no longer a member of the PARCC consortium; however, for the 2014-2015 school year, our students took the assessment.

The PARCC assessment replaced Mississippi Curriculum Test – 2nd edition (MCT2) for English Language arts and Mathematics for grades 3 through 8 and the Subject Area Testing Program – 2nd edition (SATP2) for Algebra I and English II. Testing in grades 3 through 8 and in high school in Science, English Language Arts and Math are required under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. The test results provide valuable information for parents and communities on whether students are learning and making progress in school.

About Student-Teacher Ratio
Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
