We have been so impressed with the high teaching standards and level of professionalism from teachers and staff at Northpoint. Close Quote

This school has many amazing teachers and we were so happy here until Mrs. Kahoun became the new principal. At this point, the entire vibe of the school changed. She doesn't seem engaged in the school. I volunteered about 5 to 10 hours a week at the school plus dropped off and picked up my son every day. Most days I never saw her and sometimes went months without seeing her anywhere in the school.

My son was bullied all year. Two of the injuries required us to see his doctor. I have, also, witnessed very violent acts from kids while volunteering at the school. We asked for help from the school and received none. The only action the school took was to put my son in counseling without my permission both with the dean of students and the counselor. During these counseling sessions, he was taught that he was hurt because he didn't use his words and if he can find his inner tiger he won't be bullied. My son is very shy and bottom line is no matter what there is nothing my son did to warrant being physically hurt at the hands of another child.

With the second injury, we contacted the school again and were offered no help. After the 4th serious injury, we wrote a letter to the Superintendent and had another meeting with the principal. When asked why the bully's parents were never contacted, we were told that the school gets busy and the ball was dropped. We were also told that they only had 4 recess paras on the playground for over 100 kids and in no way could they possibly see or keep every child safe. They could offer us no ideas for keeping our child safe at school except to make our child an extrovert. This is victim blaming and it's just like saying because a child has glasses he deserves to be picked on. If you want it to stop take away his glasses. It sounds so ridiculous to us but the principal is a strong believer in this philosophy.

Our doctor told us to file a police report the next time our child was injured because the injuries had been so serious in the past. We didn't want to wait for a next time and removed him from the school. Within 3 days of being out of that environment my son's anxiety and nervous behaviors have disappeared.

We now have our joyous little boy back. We are currently trying to undo the counseling the school gave him and teach him that it is NEVER okay for an adult or child to ever physically or emotionally abuse him. That it's okay to be sweet, shy and quiet - the world needs introverts too - and there is nothing about him that ever gives someone else permission to hurt him. I am so saddened by the lack of support we received from Northpoint. It was a school we had been so proud of and had given so much of our time too. Close Quote
