Open Quote We have had a great experience at Natural Science Academy! We love that it is a small school with a great community feel. The staff knows all of the children and our kids are more than just a number here. The teachers and paras work really hard to meet the individual needs of students and they have the ability to think outside the box a bit more than a traditional district school might. My kids love all of the outdoor and nature immersion opportunities the school offers (going outside 2x a day for PE and Recess, environmental education) as well as the monthly "Edventures" to parks, museums, etc.

As parents, we really appreciate that in addition to the traditional academic elements (math, science, reading, etc.) the school incorporates work on social/emotional development and environmental stewardship to help kids become well-rounded citizens, good friends, and collaborative teammates - which is amazing! NSA does a great job of developing the whole child, not just pushing them to get the highest possible test scores like most schools these days are being forced to do. We are really happy with our decision to attend and feel so lucky to have this free charter school option available to our kids! Close Quote

Open Quote Love the family friendly involvement that parents can contribute to the school and the atmosphere surrounded. And the fact that is not a big school, everyone knows each other, kids always enjoy the outdoors all year long, help them to open their mind since they are expose to nature, I love the fact there is no computers, music class, gym or playground this helps to kids use their minds more like the older days...! About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
