As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote None of my children enjoyed Schroeder. We experienced all grade levels at this school over the years. In our experience, K-2 is very slow and does not engage kids who are already working beyond grade level. Grades 3-5 are tedious at times - lots of drudgery and busy work in grade 5, in particular - and the staff and leadership don't have a handle on bullying or bad behavior. Honestly, the worst behaved kids I've ever encountered at any school we've attended were at this school. Why is that? Surely kids living within a few city blocks of each other in Troy are not born inherently ruder than others. Rather, the PTO, teachers, and principal simply don't prioritize good citizenship. They don't engage with parents or motivate students to be their best selves. I've seen several families leave Schroeder in favor of other public schools or private schools. We were likewise glad to finally leave. Close Quote

Open Quote Schroeder is a wonderful school. I had two children there from K to 4th grade and they loved it there. Every teacher had her own style but I loved them all. My children were happy to get up in the morning to go to school. The school put a lot of effort to maintain good atmosphere by organizing extra activities and adding excitement to long days. All the teachers that we had a pleasure to know: Mrs. Tibbets, Mrs. Cueter, Mrs. Brorson, Mrs. Brozowski, Mrs. Stacey were fully committed to the best performance of children. We had to switch schools due to the move. My children are still in a good school in terms of education level, but I see big difference in the atmosphere. PTA is not as active as it was at Schroeder, kids claim that the "fun" element is missing. We miss Schroeder. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
