As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My child only went to Cherry Knoll for awhile. I feel that people should be told that if your child is NOT the cookie cutter kid then you will have a hard time finding a school in this district that will help your child..Although if you want to send your child to a school that looks and feels like a prison (new campus)then you have made the right move by coming to Traverse City. the district thinks that new campus school is a great place to send kids who are different. I took a tour of this school I would not even want to go to that school let alone send my child to it..The public schools do not know how to help children who need that extra help but they know how to say the right words to get the money and then later after your child has been there for a bit they will hold a meeting saying that they are there to help after awhile if you do not agree with them they will start to make things up. and all you end up with is the same thing over and over again about all the wrong things your child is doing..so then your child ends up at this other school. Another question is that the schools gets $23,850 per child with needs from the state of Michigan, WHERE DOES THIS MONEY GO??? My child never got the right help needed and they never spent the money to help.. Do NOT move here if your child has needs STAY AWAY from Traverse City all together if you can. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
