As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Bishop Elementary offers a hidden treasure to its students. They have a full Spanish Immersion Program, that has been running for 4 years now. There is nothing like it offered in any of the surrounding districts. Very few programs in Michigan like it! Most definitely something parents need to look into if they are looking for their child to become functionally proficient in both English and Spanish during their elementary years. My daughter has been apart of the program for two years. I'm very pleased with how much she already knows and understands in both languages. Close Quote

Open Quote We chose Bishop specifically out of many choices within the Lincoln district for two reasons: 1. the Spanish Immersion program and 2. the High/Scope multi-age approach. We have not been disappointed. Our son is absolutely thriving in every way. He loves school and wants to do well. It has been amazing to watch his Spanish skills develop. By the end of Kindergarten/1st grade he was starting to read in Spanish and now, halfway through 1st grade he is reading very well in both Spanish and English. He's being challenged and even starting to do some of the 2nd grade level work in reading/writing, including book reports and spelling/vocabulary words. Even though none of us spoke any Spanish when he started the program last year he is picking it up and very engaged. We love that he's in a multi-age environment that challenges him when he's ready for additional work or to learn a new skill. He gets the opportunity to learn from the 2nd graders in his class and he has also started helping some of the kids with skills he has already mastered. The teachers are highly trained and have formed great bonds with the students and families in the program. There is a very active and supportive parent community to share resources and help with homework interpretation. The Lincoln Spanish Immersion program is truly one of a kind - there's nothing like it anywhere in Washtenaw county. We are excited to give our child the opportunity to become fully bilingual by the time he completes elementary school. Close Quote

Open Quote Understands and values children's learning styles and teaches according to it. This enables children to not only learn content but retain the knowledge. It also creates independent thinkers which is the best preparation to the workforce. Excellent basis for primary students. Most students who leave enter Middle and High school well above average. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
