As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This is one of the worst schools that I have ever had my child attend. My daughter text me on her phone to get a mandatory item. My husband left work to bring it to her because it was an emergency and they let it sit in the office for over an hour. When I called them instead of being concerned about my daughter they were more concerned about her cell phone. I thought the principle might think differently then the secretary but nope, the principle was in agreement. Forget my child's emergency, "no texting in school." They then yelled at my daughter and created this ridiculous cell phone policy where every child that has a cell phone have to turn it in to the teacher when they arrive at school. Wow, schools like this are why our children are suffering. They are more concerned about parking lot, cell phone control versus the students.
Cell Phone Policy:
February 17, 2012

Dear Reach Families,

Recently, the use of electronic devices has become a big problem in our middle school. In accordance to Reach Academy’s student/parent handbook, it states on pg. 27 that “cell phones, PDA’s, iPods, MP3 Players, video equipment, cameras, gaming devices, laser pointers, recording devices, and any other electronic devices are not permitted on school grounds or at school related events.” Also, on pg. 30 it states that “possession of electronic devices defined by school policy” is an act of misconduct in our student code of conduct. As parents of Reach Academy students, you have all signed the Commitment to Excellence Contract, in the back of the Parent/Student Hand book, and so are aware that this behavior is unacceptable.

We would like to work with each and every family, and understand that some students need to carry a cell phone due to safety and transportation. Therefore, we are implementing a new procedure that will begin Monday, February 27, 2012, and will allow for your middle school student to bring a cell phone to school. If your child needs to bring a cell phone or any other electronic device to school, it will be placed in the teacher’s desk in homeroom or in the main office with Ms. Kelly or Ms. Shelly. Here, it will be locked up during school hours to ensure safety of the devices. Students will get there devices back during homeroom at the end of the day to use OFF of school property. Any student caught with a cell phone or an electronic device during school time will have an automatic out-of-school suspension and a parent will need to pick up the device from the main office. If this happens for a second time, the electronic device will not be returned until June 17, 2012.

We are hoping to eliminate any unnecessary distractions from the classroom and continue to educate your child to the fullest. Please work with us in this new procedure by ensuring that your student knows the new policy and that your child is only bringing an electronic device to school for emergency purposes.

Thank you for your support on this issue and have a wonderful break. Close Quote

Open Quote To me, Reach Academy is like a home away from home. The staff takes care of every student as if their own. Always available by phone or email to answer any questions or concerns parents have about their child. High academics, safety, moral focus & manners are top priorities every day. Not just for the students, but parents also are held accountable for following through with each thing listed above. I love that there is a new moral focus studied & practiced school wide each month. Hands on community service projects to help those in need are done in every grade all year long. Basically, Reach Academy is my dream school for my children to attend. I can see many students from this school becoming world changing, amazing men & women in the future with high self-esteem and awareness of the needs of everyone around them. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
