As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I pulled my kids out of Linton to homeschool. Not because we wanted a religious centered education but because I felt Linton (and the public system as a whole) was not providing them with a great education. Linton is better than many local schools but what does that really add up to when the public school system as a whole is failing. It's one of the better failing schools? Close Quote

Open Quote I am very proud to be a parent of 2 children that have attended Linton Springs Elementary. My daughter, now in middle school, excelled at Linton and is now in ALL advanced placement classes. My son, still attending Linton, is in the top groups in math and reading. I find the teachers to be very responsive to any questions or concerns that I have. The teachers show a true love of their profession and help each child to be the best they can be. Close Quote

Open Quote I agree with the previous post. The school has really lost it’s focus on educating our son and spends an excessive amount time on other activities. Linton seems to have a new reason every week to take time away from his English or Math class. He has at least one of his teachers absent from class once a week due to meetings with a sub filling in. That’s a lot of lost instruction time. I’m also not happy with the new policy of half an hour longer Gym, music and Art class time to give teacher’s extra planning time. They already have lunch and recess to do this. Many teachers have interns to assist them and regular parent volunteers. It's rare to find a teacher there after the last bell of the school day (teachers putting in the time after class is usually a sign of a great school). I really wish they would stop spending so much time on the “feel good” and public service activities and truly focus on the core curriculum which is ultimately what my son is there for. It is especially frustrating with a great school like Piney Ridge down the street. Close Quote

Open Quote Not enough classtime spent on instruction in the basic subjects. Too much time spent on "extras" like health, male bonding time and watching movies. Class instruction time and amount and type of homework assigned varies greatly from one teacher to another. Clearly there are some great teachers there but there are also some terrible ones. Teacher's have too much planning time during the school day instead of spending that time teaching my kids. There is an overall lack of concern from the Principal to address these issues. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
