Open Quote This school teaches you about life skills and how to survive in the real world. It really didn't focus on test taking strategies at first but it is moving in that direction. I've been going to Fair Park High School since my freshman year and I believe that it is a wonderful school. One big problem at this school is selected administration. The main focus of fair park was to keep students out of jail and in school and now, because of an administater name Kalan Washington, more and more students are going to jail and droping out and yes they have commited crimes but the punishment doesn't fit the crime. For instance, I don't disturbing a class should earn you a trip to jail. Also the lack of teachers and the importance of this problem to the administration is a big problem. I am a junior and am taking the ACT and chemistry section of the GEE and I didn't have an actual chemistry teacher till the day after the constructed response part of the GEE test and am still without a algebra II teacher. In conclusion I find that the real problem with this school is mainly with selected faculty members and besides these flaws this is a very good and potentially rank 1 school Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
