Open Quote MLK is not a good school at all, some of the teachers do not no how to talk to there students and parents. And another thing they do not teach your child. Also keep kids back with passing grades. There not just hurting the parent there hurting the child also and its sad when a child says they hate a school and they no longer wants to attend. And another thing why do parents have to pay $30 dollars every year to help pay teachers when they don't even teach a child. Also when parents walk into the principal office the staff has an attitude towards parents and talk to the parents like there not adults. I think this school need to learn how to use professionalism. I know other parents out here are looking at its just one school in there distict and you can't send them to another school but, if we speak up things can happen better things. To MLK your school needs alot of help with attitudes, teaching and stop being malignant and help the kids instead of degrading them. As of right now this school disgusted me and my kids. School boards please put more schools in the lower 9th ward for our kids for learning reason. Parents think twice before you send your child or kids to this school and DO NOT let the smiles fool you. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
