As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is a shining star in a very dim-lit school district. The teachers are amazing. The superintendent is not. But if you want to live in Peoria itself Charter Oak is an amazing school to be a part of. Up until 2013 it was a 5-star school. In 2014 it dropped to only 1 star because of the attacks that came from the administration and the dismantling of a great school. Luckily, there are some fantastic teachers who have been trained under good leadership, even if that leadership has been removed. Close Quote

Open Quote My son went here from Kindergarten till 2nd grade and hated every day of school. There were a large amount of children who were unruly and loved to fight and bully other students. Some of the teachers here also bullied the children including my son who was having trouble with reading skills. My son's first grade teacher was a total nightmare! She was always pointing him out in the class when he did something she did not like (for example..picking at his shoelaces during rug time) and constantly belittling him. She had the audacity to tell me that my son HAD ADHD and needed to be medicated.. which was a total joke because the teacher had no medical background and had no right to try to diagnose my child. This teacher also told me that my son was not learning to read properly and that she "exhausted all options in helping him". Which was a total lie since there were other resources available. This school is a total dump. I hate it and so did my son. We transferred out of the district and now my son is a straight A student and loves school. Praise God! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
