As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This district focuses heavily on athletics. If you are not a jock, you will have a tough time in this school. The administrators are political stooges. A district for rich jocks. Close Quote

Open Quote I didnt go to this school, my husband did, he graduated in 1975. He told me that Hononegah had a big problem with drugs. In 1995 our son was going to Hononegah and he was starting to get involved in drugs. I talked with my son about drugs, explained to him how drugs destroy an entire family. He agreed, he wanted out of Hononegah and wanted to go to military school. So, I checked into military schools and found one in Rantoul IL. But in order for my son to be accepted there, he needed a drop out slip from Hononegah. I went to Hononegah to get a drop out slip for my son. Immediately the vice principle came to me and asked: why I wanted a drop out slip?. I explained, that my son says that 90% of the kids in this school do drugs and he wanted out of that school. The vice principle took me to his office, It was as if he didn't want anyone to hear what I had to say after I mentioned 90% of kids do drugs. then he said: "I don't think 90% do drugs, he says I think 90% do alcohol and 50% do drugs". I said that is an awful high percentage, why don't you have a class that educates kids on the effects of drug use? He said, " We tried that a few years ago, but it didn't work". I told him: If it saves just one child that would be a success. Hononegah gave up on those kids that needed them. I was very disappointed in Hononegah and had no more to say except, give me a drop out slip, then I left. My son graduated military school with NO pressures to do drugs. Our youngest son didn't want to leave Hononegah, he told me he is strong enough to fight the pressure of drugs. He continued school and graduated in 2001, but got involved in drugs and spent 3 years in prison. Now he is out and doing great. He started his own business because this system makes it impossible for a felon to get a job. I am happy to say he is doing great. In the last 11 years since my son has graduated Hononegah, 22 kids that graduated that school are now dead from doing drugs. A couple more are in prison for killing their own kids!, One is in prison for killing his mother. Several are dead from suicide and these tragedies are all drug related. I'm sure there are several more that I don't know of. There are still a bunch that are battling drug additions that haven't killed, robbed, sold drugs, overdosed, etc, etc. The number of kids that come out of Hononegah having drug problems is alarming, yet that school don't feel a drug awareness class is worth it? The percentages the vice principle admitted to are alarming. My biggest regret about that conversation is, I wish I had a tape recorder. You bet your stars, I would send it to all national news stations. I'm coming forward with this now, because too many family's have tragedies in their lives because that school don't think its important enough to have a drug awareness class. I hope my story wakes people up and realize the importance of educating kids against drugs. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
