As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This is one of the better public school my kids have been to. I found the school to be clean and the principal very efficient at handling any discipline issues. I also noticed that the demographics here are slowly shifting here towards parents who either both have college/master's degrees or are professionally employed and value education (which is true of Algonquin/McHenry areas in the past 10 years); I noticed another parent had the same observations as here. I am surprised that this only has 3 stars ranking. I suspect that in a year or two, this school will be among the preferred elementary schools. My kids both still miss the school (we've now moved out of state) and I miss the nice neighborhood around the school, with its parks and trails. Close Quote

Open Quote A relatively new school in Algonquin. My daughter has been attending the school for a year now and we have been happy with the facility and more importantly with the principal (Ms. Ryan) and the teachers. The village of Algonquin itself is transitioning to a more white collar neighborhood and this is reflected in the demographics as well, at this school. I notice a lot of parents with graduate degrees and good education, taking interest in the PTA and other school related activities. The local parks are safe and well kept by the village as well, making it all the more convenient. If you plan to buy or rent in the local Algonquin Lakes neighborhood, this would be a good time, especially since there is still good supply of homes and low rates. The neighborhood is conveniently located for work in Barrington, IL and Schaumburg, and Elgin as well - Makes it an opitimum location for Work, & School. Overall, would definitely rank the school at a 4 for now and pehaps a 5, if they keep up the good work in the future. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
