Open Quote Incredible, dedicated teachers who love what they do, love who they teach, and know how to help every student achieve the highest level of education possible. My kids are challenged and stretched academically every day. This is far more than I can say from my children's attendance at other public schools where a few times I walked into the classroom to find, instead of an actively engaged teacher asking in-depth questions and interacting with the students, I found teachers sitting in the corner of the classroom eating a snack while students watched public broadcasting children's shows. These teachers aren't here for a paycheck- they're here to create future leaders and are doing a fine job at it! Close Quote

Open Quote I have 3 kids who attend North Star Charter and they are getting an excellent education and being challenged by their teachers. My kids are in the top of their class and still learning daily. All the teaching staff at North Star are amazing and doing a fantastic job. The teachers are dedicated to helping students learn and there isn't a single teacher that I wouldn't want my kids to be in their classroom.

Yes, they had some growing pains a couple years ago when they expanded and also had tough budget cuts but the teachers remained dedicated to the students and continued providing superior teaching in the classroom. The current administration has been doing a great job with making necessary changes to insure that North Star will be successful in the future.

Our children's quality of education is extremely important to my husband and I and we both are confident that North Star is the best place for them. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
