Open Quote This is a school with a staff who care about their students education and progress. Instruction is intense preparing students for life. The philosophy of teach to the high and support the low challenges all students and encourages learning. The curriculum is intense and requires dedication from students and parents. This school is not for everyone, but this is the great thing about living in America, we have choice. Close Quote

Open Quote Only straight A students should attend this school. No help or consideration for children that need help. As one of the professionals at BSU said "it's all about the numbers". Class sizes are 35 students to 1 teacher with no extra help for the teacher. Be very aware before letting your child attend this school. Close Quote

Open Quote Compass is a great place for my kids to learn. They use the Harbor method which gives students a low threat environment and accelerated learning opportunity. The staff are incredibly dedicated to the success of the students. The school administrator is the best I have ever dealt with. She holds the standards and keeps true to the Harbor method, yet takes the time to get to know every student in a personal way. This is an awesome school! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
