Open Quote I've waited two years after transferring my daughters from a top-ranked public school to High Meadows before submitting a review here in order to feel I truly had a feel for its long term results for our family. My one and only regret is that I even allowed my kids to waste time in public school at all and didn't start them at High Meadows from Day 1. The difference in my children is so profoundly positive and in such a short time. I know it sounds like a cliche, but seeing them light up with excitement to go to school each day and see their enthusiasm for learning is really more than I'd even hoped for. Their confidence has grown by leaps and bounds as the amazing teachers and staff actively engage in getting to know each individual child on a profound level. And it's not a "fake" confidence either. Students are expected to take responsibility for their own learning rather than feeling school is a chore foisted upon them. There is an environment of support and collaboration that motivates kids to strive for their personal best rather than competing against their peers. The teachers are like none I've ever met; they have incredible morale and enthusiasm because they all believe it the progressive education model and have support from the administration and the families. No issue is EVER treated in an adversarial way. There is truly a successful model of collaboration between parents, students, teachers and administration. The headmaster, Jay Underwood, is a refreshingly honest leader with no political agenda - or ego - who genuinely pours himself into the well-being of his students, teachers, staff and parents. Spend a day touring the campus and you'll instinctively feel the positive energy everywhere. Then, think back to when you were a child and imagine which environment you would have thrived in the most.... And just when it seems too good to be true, look at the stats and testimony of their graduates. They will validate your gut feelings. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
