Open Quote New Life Academy of Excellence gets this rating because they truly are a top-tier elementary school. Our daughter came to NLAE as a kindergarten student last year and we were so excited about the methods in which the faculty introduce concepts. My daughter was learning geometry in a fun way, in KG! Instead of the common "circle, rectangle, triangle", she was learning the three dimensional terms "cylinder, rombus, trapezoid." I also love the introduction of a second language (Mandarin/Chinese) starting at the kindergarten level! Close Quote

Open Quote New Life is a really good school. However, I'm very sad that I have to pull my child out after this year because there are not many students who continue after 5th grade. They only have a handful of Middle School kids. Mr. Ford need to consider making the Norcross campus a Middle School because these kids are not being able to experience the Middle School setting being around these babies all day. In addition, I understand that it's a Charter School, however, Gwinnett County needs to expedite getting these kids a cafeteria instead of paying $20 a week to Lynn's Catering. I have 2 kids which is $40 a week, $160 a month. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
