Open Quote Abbotts Hill is located in Johns Creek which is generally an affluent city but this school takes in many of the rental residences in the city in terms of apartments and single family homes. Many of the children from the rental residences do not arrive with a family history of educational achievement and they are generally behind other students in the classroom at least at the inception of their tenure at the school. Therefore as with many public schools they seek to cater to the needs of these students and limit the potential of more advanced children. The administration and the teachers have had difficulty as of late with many of the parents who have taken note of the selective enforcement of school code and a very prominent political agenda in terms of the curriculumn. While this is fairly uniform for all public schools at this time to praise government programs, union practices and focus on so called "social & economic justic" this has become particularly pronounced for many parents who take the time to read their childrens lesson plans, ask questions and visit the school. In many classrooms the most prominent Americans portrayed on the walls are Cesar Chavez, Thurgood Marshall, Franklin and Eleneor Roosevelt and perhaps Paul Revere as an attempted equilizer. The children now spend a predominant amount of their social studies time learning about how unions changed poor work environments of the capitalist system and focusing on racial injustice. Much more time is devoted to the civil rights era of the 1960's than is ever spent on understanding basic concepts of the American Republic. The curriculmn lacks any focus on the Constitution because many of the educators deem it to be an unnecessary document.
While detractors of this review would immediately attemp to denounce it as racist the facts are indisputable if one actually reads the curriculmn and visits the school. Many parents are attempting to move out of the zone for this elementary school but there are limitations in terms of timing and numbers that these requests entail. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
