Open Quote Very limited communication from administration. Last minute notification of events and needs from the school. Too much Franklin Covey Leader in Me and too little academics. This school use to be a fabulous school and has been on the decline over the past 5 years. It is so sad to see. Close Quote

Open Quote Great teachers and staff at VCE but I’ve been very disappointed with how the kids here behave. Not necessarily the schools fault as respect and kindness start in the home. I would maybe think twice here if you have a sensitive child to bullying and getting picked on. I don’t think there’s enough effort made by VCE against bullying imo compared to the 3 other Elementary schools we have attended. These behaviors would absolutely not be tolerated and I sincerely hope things get a little more strict in this particular area!!!! We have had great teachers so far though:) Close Quote

Open Quote This is a great school in that there is a lot of parent involvement, but the administration proves difficult to communicate with when needed. Also, I have no idea how they say the student-teacher ratio is 17-1. My child has been there 4 years and has had 25-27 kids in class each year. This is far too much for one teacher to handle and the kids ultimately suffer. We've had a mediocre experience here at best, just not sure it's all that some say it is in the way of providing a stellar education. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
