Open Quote This school is TERRIBLE. The teachers, counselor, and And Principal will smile in your face. But they DO NOT care about the education of your child and they most certainly didn't care about mine. After reviewing this year test scores I am not surprised they ranked so poorly. My child was struggling from the beginning of the school year and I bought this to his teachers attention nothing changed. My son was placed in a container IEP program with the same teacher he was with all day. This is something new I'm told they did. I explained it wasn't what worked best for my child. Her teaching technique was not working with my childs learning ability, and if it wasn't working while she taught the regular curriculum it.wouldn't benefit my child to remain I'm the same class all day for the additional help IEP is supposed to offer. As we know all children learn differently. I brought it to the principal attention after reaching out to the school board nothing changed. She pretended to listen and to have my child "scheduled" for additional "testing" ( btw that was just to buy time to cover up that they didnt give a crap. That meeting was in Oct. they followed up after spring break and stated we should wait until next year). I later found out they offered Free additional help after school that was not offered to my child and I'm sure a lot of other students. I instead had to pay a tutor out of pocket to keep my child on track. Do not accept what is given to you. Your child is Not a failure...the School system is the failure. Mt. Zion is a poor school, and Clayton Co is an even worst school district. My child will NOT return back to this school.

Let me also Add this...we had several meetings the last suggesting remediation for my child. Remediation. There was no tutoring offered, no suggestions to change his teacher, No offers for suggested tutors outside of school hours. Nothing. My son has had 2 tutors this year and they state he is Thriving and was in disbelief that remediation was even offered. Again my child doesn't learn like the next one. Here I am telling his teacher how he learns and its ignored. I know my child and I know he is very intelligent so to hear that remediation was the suggestion they came up with to help my child. I knew to get him out of this school. You are your child's biggest cheerleader don't let them tear them down. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
