Open Quote I am in the process now during this present school year of removing my child from this school. It's a penal colony with NO social order for the students. The teachers are overly eager to penalize severely grade wise for the smallest infractions, and most of the times it's their error. C'mon, give an honor roll student an F because you misplaced or didn't file returned homework correctly. It seems to me they really cater to the less smart students who demand their attention and make them feel needed & the students of parents that flood the school with money. I truly believe my child is suffering and/or being overlooked because she's very smart, grasps things quickly, and don't require more than marginal teacher interaction. It's really only a great school on paper. My child has gone all day without talking to another student because of it's severely strict no socializing rules. I know it's about education, but allow them to socially bloom also. She came from a great public school that was unfortunately closed. I'm in search of a comparable one now. Close Quote

Open Quote kippways teacher/student ratio in class is 22plus per class. All of the teachers are not certified. Although they hire within for leadership positions they are not always qualified. The average experience of educators and/or leaders is about 2-5years. Kipp Ways is not the same as it was when it first open. They are working below standards and the communication is awful. On paper Kipp is wonderful. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
