Open Quote I have no idea how this is an A rated school. If you expect your child to enter their "gifted" program you may want to choose another school. My son was finally tested in March, after numerous requests since the beginning of the year. Since the school year ends in May, he really is unable to really benefit from the program. I was also quite offended when he came home from school with a mother's day card written in Spanish. I have no problem with him taking Spanish. I think this is great but making a mother's day card in Spanish to give to parents that do not speak Spanish is beyond me. This school will also ask you for money nearly every week for various things. Even their school spirit shirts have advertising on them. I highly discourage any parent that wants their child to be in a gifted program from attending Rainbow Elementary School. Close Quote

Open Quote This school's administration and teaching staff are more interested in getting money from parents than teaching the children. I have requested numerous parent teacher conferences on differentiating my son's learning to match his level. He was is the 99th percentile when he started this year and since has regressed to right about class average. If you want your child to not excel and instead regress towards the mean than this is the school for you. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
