Summary

Jeaga Middle School is a public magnet middle school located in West Palm Beach, Florida, serving grades 6-8 with an enrollment of 862 students. While the school consistently outperforms the Palm Beach School District and the state of Florida in several key test score metrics, it faces challenges, including lower test scores in some areas, higher chronic absenteeism rates, and a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students.

Jeaga Middle School's strengths include significantly higher proficiency rates in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Civics compared to the district and state averages. However, the school's 8th-grade science proficiency rate is lower than the district and state, and its English Language Arts (ELA) proficiency rates in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades are also below the district and state averages. Additionally, Jeaga's chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 23.4% to 31.4%, are consistently higher than the state average.

Interestingly, while Jeaga Middle School outperforms the district and state in some areas, it lags behind several nearby magnet schools, such as Bak Middle School of the Arts, Crestwood Community Middle, and Palm Springs Middle School, which have significantly higher proficiency rates in both ELA and math. Despite the higher per-student spending at Jeaga, the school's academic performance suggests that simply increasing funding may not be the sole solution to improving student outcomes.

Open Quote I think this is the worst school in palm beach county! They actually have study hall as a REQUIRED ELECTIVE!?! Really what is that teaching our children that its okay to sit for a whole class period and gossip which leads to more fights at this disastrous school! Then phone calls from teachers about your child's behavior and they decide to complain about their job, the pay...Etc. Then to actually hear the teacher on the phone complaining about all the kids in her class at that moment and hear this teacher tell students and I QUOTE " Well that was STUPID" Wow what an example they are setting for our future generation. Sad and shameful! Needless to say my child will not be attending this school next year if it takes every resource I can dig up. Close Quote
