Summary

Glenridge Middle is a public middle school in Orlando, Florida, serving 1,069 students in grades 6-8. The school is part of the Orange County School District, which is ranked 32 out of 67 districts in the state and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Glenridge Middle consistently outperforms the district and state averages in standardized tests, with 88% of students proficient or better in EOC/Algebra 1 and 100% proficiency in EOC/Geometry, compared to 63% and 60% for the district and state, respectively. However, the school faces challenges with relatively high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 29.6% to 35.8% over the past few years. Glenridge Middle has a free and reduced lunch rate of around 40-44%, lower than some nearby schools like Union Park Middle (71.66%) and College Park Middle (70.79%).

While Glenridge Middle outperforms many nearby schools in academic achievement, it faces competition from high-performing magnet schools in the area, such as Orlando Gifted Academy, which consistently ranks among the top middle schools in the state. Glenridge Middle's higher per-student spending and lower student-teacher ratio may contribute to its academic performance, but the school still has room for improvement, especially in addressing chronic absenteeism.

Open Quote Not the worst, but far from the best.

IB and honors programs are decent; too bad there isn't enough room for all the eligible kids that want to participate in advanced studies. Instead, the mid-year transfer and new students are placed in classes with kids who have no interest in learning. Thanks Florida voters!!! You did a great thing....It is obviously soooo much better to put 5 bright kids in with 15 below average kids and force them to follow lessons aimed at the lowest common denominator rather than allow 30 children with a true passion for learning in an "overcrowded" classroom.

RIDICULOUS! Close Quote
