Open Quote My son came home in little girl's panties one afternoon because he didn't make it to the restroom in time. I usually have an extra pair of clothing for him in case of accidents, however, this was one of those days where we simply weren't prepared (accidents happen).

I was obviously shocked when I realized he was wearing inappropriate undergarments that were ill-fitted to his male anatomy. I phoned the school the next morning and asked to speak with Vice Principle Vega he returned my phone call days later after reaching out to him multiple times.

His level of concern was mediocre and he wasn't very reassuring of the matter. Of course I was worried but also had to be rational about the situation. My son was escorted by another Male assistant teacher, a Mr. Besic, of whom I was not pleased with already (he was not very gentle with my son I once witnessed him jerk my son by the arm and I nearly lost it). When I found out he was the one that helped my son, I was immediately concerned.

My concern grew much more when I realized how much clothing Fern Creek actually has for their students (two whole separate rooms full of clothes donated to both male and female students in case of accidents). I alerted law enforcement and they seemed to be the only ones that shared the same level of concern I had.

He (my son) would also allegedly have behavioral outbursts at the school that were incongruent with his typical behavior at home which was very alarming to me. I wondered why he acted so differently at the school, and if there was an underlying reason. He often said how much he disliked his teachers, the school, and the kids and how he had no friends (another red flag he's very good with everyone, most of the time).

There were EIGHTEEN children in his class (four year olds), one burnt out teacher named Mrs. Crouter, and her assistant, Mr. Besic. It was obvious she was frustrated in the mornings when I would drop my son off and she was typically very short with me, and had an air condescension that was painfully obvious.

I should also mention Fern Creek uses a teaching method called conscious discipline. From what I have comprehended from the conscious discipline website and other articles related to it, many discipline problems have "one solution." This is nonsense, children are not robots, and their problems differ from household to household. They can't be treated like little androids and be expected to form the mold of this New Age bull excrement steeped in pseudo neuroscience (research Ph. D. Becky Bailey, future cult leader).

The truth is my son was literally off the charts at this school and he was unchallenged by the academics as well as the lack of true discipline that has waned from the public school system over the past four decades... and I'm not talking about corporal punishment, I'm talking about teaching young children to respect your elders, teachers, and authority figures. This woman, Mrs. Crouter appeared to either have her hands figuratively tied behind her back or she was completely inundated by the workload/class size she had.

I've happily removed my child from this horrendous source of public education and my son has excelled at his new school, where they teach respect, and present structure that children yearn for. He is only four and he is beginning to read and calculate arithmetic because he now attends a school that challenges not only his mind but his character.

I do NOT recommend Fern Creek Elementary. My experience was a nightmare. Protect your child from neglect and possible abuse, not to mention an experimental approach to education that will more than likely turn your child into drone-like hive-minded individual. If I could give Fern Creek a negative 5 stars I would. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
