Open Quote WORST SCHOOL IN LAKE COUNTY!!! NO COMMUNICATION WITH PARENTS! GETTING HELP FOR YOUR KID IF THEY ARE SPECIAL NEEDS IS OUT OF THE FREAKIN QUESTION. HE HAS BEEN TREATED LIKE A PING PONG BALL FROM DAY 1. 4 TEACHERS IN 3 DAYS WITH NO NOTIFICATION TO WHY OR ANYTHING. UNTRAINED, UNQUALIFIED TEACHERS. I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED SUCH A HEARTLESS AND DISGUSTING PLACE WITH HOW THEY TREAT THEIR STUDENTS, LET ALONE THE PARENTS. PARENTS I CAUTION YOU, IF YOU HAVE A CHILD WHO YOU KNOW NEEDS ESE DO NOT BRING THEM TO SAWGRASS UNLESS YOU HAVE AN IEP AND THAT MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS, EVEN STILL IF YOU DO CONE TO SAWGRASS BAY AS A LAST RESORT! THEY DONT GIVE A CRAP IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT GETTING THE QUALITY EDUCATION THEY DESERVE. MY SON JUST GOT OFFICIALLY MEDICALLY DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISM AND I PUT MONEY ON IT THAT THIS SCHOOL WITH STILL NOT MOVE TO HELP HIM UNTIL TIME RUNS OUT FOR THEIR EVALUATION TO BE DONE. IM SICK AND TIRED OF HOW THEG TREAT ME AND MY CHILD. I WILL SAY, THEY SHOULD NOT BE PROUD OF THEIR SCHOOL BECAUSE IF YOU ARENT IN MAINSTREAM CLASS, YOU ARE SH ON THEIR SHOE!!! Open Quote Sawgrass Bay Elementary is an ok school, not great. The office staff is rude.
The administration is short with Hispanic parents. Teachers are good, but can't
do too much with students who are disrupting the class. Administration will not
remove students who are spoiling it for the rest of the kids. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
