Open Quote This is an incredible school. If you want inflated grades, pay for private school. If your child wants real preparation for middle school and beyond, this is the place. Close Quote

Open Quote This schools ranks high due to self inflated state scores. They hand select the highest testing children and create a hostile environment and literally ask any child less than perfect to leave the school. They get more funding for higher scores and continue to discriminate against children with an IEP or ADHD as it distracts teachers from teaching to the test.
The new principal is terribly inexperienced and only concerned about scores. Most of the teachers, including Luce literally ask parents to pull their children mid semester if they talk in class. Children are chastised in front of the class for in-offensives like needing to go the the bathroom. There are less than 2 African American children in each class and even fewer children (nearly none) on reduced lunch. This school is like a Nazi regime of test score driven, otherwise inept teachers with exception of the brilliant talent that heeds less the new administration. Most are not even gifted certified and do not understand or care about the gifted child. How schools rank in test score percentiles does not equate with a good school. Close Quote

Open Quote Excellent education system, my classmates there are very intelligent and care for their future lives and careers like me but are also laid back. I felt very confident and relaxed at that school and the teachers were so so so so so so so nice! If I could choose going to Alton Boyd in Allen, TX (no offense but...) for 2 years and going to middle school or going to JBE for full time, I would totally go JBE. I was first known as a nerd for loving Halo and computers and video games, etc but I was then welcomed with many great-minded, fun friends. This school is outstanding and is the perfect school for the above-average child. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
