Open Quote am now a senior in this school and from what i experienced it is not your typical high school. Yes, it is true that we are a "nerd" school by that i mean that most students actually care about their grades (more so from a regular public school) that being going to terra means wanting to learn. There is no school spirit you definitely do not get a "high school experience". It feels like a middle school not even like a private middle school? As in any school there are AMAZING teachers and HORRIBLE (some are complete idiots) teachers there is nothing you can do about that.. Personally i do not like the principal she can be rather rude or disrespectful towards students but she must be doing something right if most students excel in academics. The vice principals are nice and understanding, and the counselors are very approachable and helpful. Also there is NO bullying or major drug problem here. Be prepared for packmen battles in lunch. The rest I can say the principal as a VERY high ego and thinks terra is the best when its not. UGH sorry for the ramble but for example the counselor told me to go get a signature from her and when i politely ask her to sign it she says "I DO NOT WANT A KID GIVING ME THIS" so rude first of all lady i am student, second i am 18 and i am adult and lastly i go to early admissions WHICH means that i am mature enough to go to college so if you can be a little bit more respectful towards your students maybe they wouldn't despise/be afraid of your so much. Another incident I had is that i had to get my ID but i go to miami dade for early admissions. The counselor and security guard told me it was alright to go ahead into the building to get it (without any uniform of course because i go to college) her assistant stops us in the middle of the hallway, screaming at us like a crazy maniac we even had a visitors tag on she then rush us to the principal (creating this whole necessary drama and treating us as criminals) and yells at us for absolutely no reason.. Dude can you at least be more respectful and ask kindly what we were doing and not create a whole scene. There are many more incidents throughout my high school experience but that is too much to write. At the end its what you make of it I hope to have helped some parent or student considering this school. PS I am not exaggerating anything here whatsoever everything is actually how its written. Open Quote This is an excellent school. I believe it is one of the best schools in Miami-Dade County. I recently attended open house to meet my daughter's teachers and for the second year in a row, I left the school stunned by the caliber of educators this amazing principle has been able to join together. The teachers are gifted in their ability to connect with the kids, motivate them, and allow their character and self confidence to develop. The kids, themselves, motivate each other to do better. They are students that are interested in learning and doing well; good influences all around. Honestly, this school is a rare gem. Its better than private. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
