Open Quote Horrible school! Everyone that works in the office is extremely rude! You walk inside the office, and the office staff ignores you, and acknowledges you rudely. They can't stand when parents go inside the office. The office staff walks around with thorns stuck up their butts, because they don't want to be there at all. If they don't like being there, then they should quit, and find a job where their faces aren't miserable all the time! The African American lady that sits all the way on the left hand side of the office, never gets up from her seat, she'll ask you what you want, and gets really bothered just because she's helping you. The attention here is worse than a fast food place. Let's move on: the teachers here aren't that great, there are a few teachers that are passionate, love teaching, and will treat your child wonderfully, but the majority of the teachers here are mean, have no passion, or patience to teach children. The teachers don't respect any student here, all the children are yelled at, and scolded really harshly just because they are talking to their fellow peer student. The teachers treat the children like prisoners, they don't want to hear a peep out of them. These are children for crying out loud, not animals! I have witness countless of times, teachers getting out of order, and yelling at these children in their faces. Way to go on how to show them "respect" - it's no wonder the middle school children don't have any respect, why would they, when they are not treated with respect by the adults here!!!!! Very disappointed, this school sucks! The parents are never involved here, and the few that are involved, are good for nothing. The parents are awful here, stuck up, and they pretend they have money, and are rich, but in reality, they are poor, have no manners, and all they talk about is money, real estate, businesses, and how sad, because they have none of what they say. Parents are liars and not honest, and all the parents can't even speak English. This school gives tons of homework, almost 3-4 hours doing homework Monday to Friday. Money: Always sending flyers to pay for this, and pay for that. On holidays: Kids don't bring anything at all, only a few, like I mentioned: this school is in a well desirable area, with lots of expensive properties, and property taxes are high and yet - none of the parents can't afford Halloween candy goodie bags????? Horrible School! Kids are not allowed to celebrate their Birthdays inside their classroom, it has to be done inside the cafeteria - and you may send cupcakes - cupcakes are distributed the last 10 mins. of lunch time, so kids have to gobble them up like animals! Staff will discriminate on you, if you are not up to their standards. Stay away, do not enroll your precious child here. They bully here too, a lot! Overall, thank goodness, thank you Jesus, my child does not attend this school anymore. Close Quote

Open Quote I move 3 years ago to Sunny Isles Beach only that my son can attend this school. Now he is going to 3th grade and I'm very happy with the result. He just finished SAT with perfect score and going to gifted class. I'm so far very happy with his teachers and looking forward to the next school year in Sunny Isles. Close Quote

Open Quote Sunny Isles Beach Community School is not so sunny. The principal is rude and extremely uncaring. She would be better suited to run a correctional facility than a K-8 school. She only cares about her ratings and FCAT scores and will do whatever it takes to keep the statistics high even turning a blind eye to bullying. The majority of the teachers talk so poorly to the children and communication between parent/teacher is near impossible. Please dont be deceived by this schools high ratings its all smoke and mirrors. Look beneath the surface..... Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
